Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 Review: Audiophile TWS

Published: June 25, 2025 | Category: Reviews

The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 ($279) are the best-sounding true wireless earbuds under $300. Sennheiser’s 7mm TrueResponse drivers deliver audiophile-grade sound in an earbud form factor. LDAC support, -42dB ANC, and 9-hour battery life make these the complete package. Here’s why they beat the AirPods Pro 2 and Sony WF-1000XM5 for sound quality.

Sound Quality: Best in Class

7mm TrueResponse drivers with frequency response 5Hz-21kHz. LDAC support at 990kbps. THD: 0.4%. Sound is detailed, spacious, and neutral with excellent instrument separation. I compared the MTW 4 to the Sony WF-1000XM5 on Bach’s Cello Suites — the Sennheiser resolved bow strokes and string textures that the Sony blurred together. This is the sound quality you’d expect from a $500+ headphone, packed into a $279 earbud.

ANC and Battery

ANC: -42dB (tied with Sony WF-1000XM5 for best in earbuds). Battery: 9 hours per charge + 27 hours case (36 hours total). This is the longest battery life among premium earbuds. IPX4 water resistance. Weight: 5.8g per bud. The Sennheiser Smart Control app offers a 5-band EQ with custom presets and adaptive ANC modes.

My Take

Here’s my take: if sound quality is your #1 priority for wireless earbuds, the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 ($279) are the best. They sound better than the AirPods Pro 2 ($249) and Sony WF-1000XM5 ($279). The ANC is equally class-leading. The only advantage the AirPods have is iOS integration — if you have an iPhone, the AirPods Pro 2’s seamless switching may outweigh the sound quality difference. For everyone else, the Sennheiser wins.
