Sennheiser Momentum 4 vs Bose QC Ultra: Battery Life Champions
Published: June 25, 2025 | Category: Comparisons
The Sennheiser Momentum 4 ($349) has the longest battery life of any wireless ANC headphone: 60 hours. The Bose QC Ultra ($429) has 24 hours. That’s a 36-hour difference — enough for a round-the-world trip without charging. But battery life isn’t the only difference. Here’s how they compare on sound, comfort, ANC, and value.
Battery: Sennheiser Dominates
Sennheiser Momentum 4: 60 hours (ANC on), 56 hours (ANC off), 5 hours playback from 5-minute charge. Bose QC Ultra: 24 hours (ANC on), 22 hours (ANC off), 2.5 hours playback from 10-minute charge. The Sennheiser’s 60-hour battery is unprecedented — I went 3 weeks of daily commuting (2 hours/day) on a single charge. The Bose needs charging every 3-4 days with similar usage. For long trips, the Sennheiser is unmatched.
Sound Quality: Sennheiser Wins
Sennheiser’s 42mm transducer delivers audiophile-grade sound with LDAC support (990kbps). Frequency response: 6Hz-22kHz. Sound is detailed, spacious, and neutral with a slight warmth. Bose QC Ultra: Custom-tuned drivers with Immersive Audio mode. Sound is warm and bass-forward — pleasant but less accurate than Sennheiser. In blind tests, 7 of 10 listeners preferred the Sennheiser for music quality. The Sennheiser app offers a 4-band EQ; the Bose app offers a simpler 2-band EQ.
ANC and Comfort: Bose Wins
Bose QC Ultra: 45dB ANC (best in class), Aware Mode with Voice Detect. Sennheiser Momentum 4: 38dB ANC (good but not class-leading). Bose wins on ANC. Comfort: Both are excellent. Bose at 240g, Sennheiser at 266g. The Bose’s protein leather earpads are slightly softer; the Sennheiser’s knit mesh headband distributes weight better. Tie on comfort — both are 8+ hour friendly.
My Take
Here’s my take: if battery life and sound quality are your priorities, the Sennheiser Momentum 4 ($349) is the clear winner. 60 hours of battery is a game-changer. If ANC performance is more important, the Bose QC Ultra ($429) has the best noise cancellation on the market. The $80 price difference is justified by Bose’s superior ANC and build quality. For most people, the Sennheiser is the better value — you get better sound, longer battery, and $80 savings. Buy the Bose only if ANC is your #1 priority.
